Red Hot Chili Peppers vs. Puddle of Mudd-Day 24

After the Foo Fighters beat Goldfinger by a vote of 5-1, we move on to our final bracket quarterfinal, rock legends Red Hot Chili Peppers vs. newbies Puddle of Mudd. The Red Hot Chili Peppers have been for more than 25 years now, and have continued to go strong. They got started in 1983, and haven't let up since. They released their first album in 84', a self-titled effort, which didn't get much success. However, the band didn't let up, and continued to put out more albums. The next two, Freaky Styley and The Uplift Mofo Party Plan, continued to showcase the band's funky style of music, but still saw limited commercial success. Soon came Mother's Milk, which became the Peppers' biggest album, headlined with a cover of Stevie Wonder's "Higher Ground". Then, in 1991, the band finally hit the scene. Blood Sugar Sex Magik became a huge hit, with such singles as "Give It Away", "Under the Bridge", and "Suck My Kiss". The album continued to top the charts, and the Peppers became a household name. However, the band soon fell upon a dark era, when guitarist John Frusciante left the band after the Blood Sugar tour. The band was forced to find a replacement in Dave Navarro, of Jane's Addiction fame. The chemistry with the new guitarist didn't seem to flow, and the result was One Hot Minute, an album that didn't nearly see the success of Blood Sugar and had a different style to it. Once the tour was over, Navarro left the band because of band tensions, and frontman Anthony Kiedis confronted Frusciante about rejoining. Frusciante, who had faced the verge of death due to drug addiction, finished up in rehab and rejoined the band in 1998. The result was Californication, the turn around album for the band. The album was an instant success, and showcased a softer and melodic side to the band not seen on previous albums. With Frusciante back, the band was once again in their prime. They released the follow-up to Cali in 2002 called By The Way, which can be considered to be the band's most mellow album to date. However, the Peppers didn't let up, and released a huge, double disc album in 2006 called Stadium Arcadium. The album was a masterpiece, and showcased the blend of the band's new and old styles. There was the funk for the old fans, and the softer stuff for the new fans. Although the Peppers are taking a break from music right now, they show no signs of letting up and promise to continue to make great music. As for our ladder, we have 00's modern rock band Puddle of Mudd, who saw big success in 2001 with the release of Come Clean. It produced hits like "Blurry" and "She Hates Me". Although the band kept quiet for a few years after that, we came back in 2007 with "Famous", which seems to be a modest hit for the band.

That's it for me...voting time!
